Charles Phillip Morris, age 76, of Plainfield, died peacefully at his home with his family surrounding him on May 19, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1950 to the late George and Dorothy (Jessup) Morris in Indianapolis, Indiana. Charles was a lifelong resident of Plainfield, Indiana where he graduated in the Class of 1968. He then met the love of his life, Beth (Harris) Morris, they married on April 24, 1971. Charles worked at Collins Oldsmobile for 17 years as a Unit Repair Supervisor, then retired from Lynn Trucking in 2017 after 29 years as a Manager/Dispatcher. He was a long time member of the Plainfield Christian Church. Charles was on the Guilford Township Advisory Board for 44 years, where he received the Township Board Member of the Year for Indiana in 2022. He was an avid Indiana sports fan with his loyalty resting with his Hoosiers. Charles also loved to fish with friends and family in his spare time. He devoted many countless hours and years to the youth of Plainfield, coaching numerous sports starting in his twenties through his own children's athletic careers. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who was ever present in all their lives. He never hesitated to drop everything to help his family in any capacity. His quiet but steadfast presence was a strength like no other. His patience was to be admired, but his willingness to provide and protect is his lasting legacy. Visitation hours will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be the next morning, Tuesday, May 26, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow to Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beth (Harris) Morris; sons, Michael (Brenda) Morris, Matt (Alisa) Morris; daughter, Amy Pickett; sisters, Elizabeth Edwards and Peggy Shuler; 9 grandchildren, Josh (Tori) Morris, Jacob (Caitlyn) Morris, Samantha Morris, Logan Morris, William Morris, Dailey Morris, Abigail (Baylee) Elsenbroek, Emma Elsenbroek and Bailey Pickett; 3 great grandsons; Gentry, Shepherd and Granger Morris.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Plainfield High School Student Assistant Fund.
