Sixty going on Seventy

This song was written by Kathy Robbins Arrington.  She and Roland Schinbeckler recreated the roles of Leisel and Rolf from "The Sound of Music" which they performed at the reunion.  It is a parody on the tune "we are 16 going on 17".  Check out photos in the Reunion Photos link.  An absolutely outstanding performance that was perfect for the evening's celebration !!!!!!!

Here’s a link to “Video Sep 29, 7 13 51 PM.mov” in my Dropbox:  There are some starts and stops until the 1:20 minute mark but when the music starts it continues perfectly . Cheers to Kathy and Roland !!!

Sixty going on Seventy…2018 VERSION

R & K:            We were 16 going on 17

R:        baby, let’s have a drink

K:        Let’s DRINK  to the DAY when you were a roué

R:         YOU were just ON the brink…

R & K:            We were 16 going on 17,

R:        dif-fi-cult to be-lieve

K:        I’ve gained a few…

R:        You still look like “you”

K:        You’ve still got romance up your sleeve

K:        Timid & shy & scared no more

R:        You’ve been around the block

R:        Thought I was old & wise before

K:        You certainly were not!

R:        You still need someone older & wiser – telling you what to do!

K:        You are 60 going on 70 – (sweet) and I still don’t’ listen to you!

K:        Totally unprepared am I to face these aching joints

R:        I’ll come to your res-cue, Sweetie-Pie - – damn! What was my point?

R & K: I can’t re-CALL any-thing-AT-all

K:        & I’m tired of flashing “hot”…

R & K: Perhaps it’s time we move to Col-o-ra-do and smoke me-di-cin-al pot!

R & K:  We are 60 going on 70

Aging is such a curse…

K:        I eat Prunes like can-dy

R:        I drink more brandy

R & K:            Could this get any worse?

R:        Keep your CHINS up

K:        Suck your gut in

R:        Baby, let’s not quit now

R & K:            We may be old FARTS  –

 But we’re young at HEART

And we’ll make it through somehow!

 R:        So many dreams I’ve re-al-ized – can’t think of one regret

K:        There’ve been a few, but lucky for you – I forgive and forget!

R & K:            Someday we’ll be older and wiser – What are ya gonna do? (shrug)… (rit.)

K:        When we’re 70 going on 80…

 R: I’ll still be talkin’ with (you)…

                          K: I’ll share my walker with (you)…

R & K: I’ll WEAR De-PENDS… with… YOU!! (piano interlude)

R & K: …Being 16 going on 17 has a distinct allure…

R: I’d LIKE to visit – BUT –              K: Actually…I’d rather NOT –

R & K: (This) MO-ment I MUCH pre-fer

R & K:  Six-ty eight was a very good year

For grown-ups who showed the way…

SO- Here’s to the teachers who watched from the bleachers…

(and) WE had FRIENDS who had our backs

They’d pick US up when we’d SLIP!

R: (Yeah!) You BET your ass – K: well, I’m NOT that CRASS

But I’LL bet my brand new hip!

Now that we’re OLD it’s nice to know: we’ll NE-ver walk alone

A-MI-gos PA-ra  si-EM-pre means: We’re FRIENDS to the end of time…

When we’re 70 going on 80 -

(YOU’LL) AL-WAYS BE FRIENDS OF MINE!

We are 60 going on 70…                                How did the years just fly?

Who’s that old couple there in the mirror?           We’ve kissed our youth good-bye

We are 60 going on 70…                                                 I wish we could go back

Let’s close our eyes and hope a surprise…     Will re-new a youthful track….

magic “transformation” music as robes are removed to reveal lederhosen & dancing dress
