The first message below is from her sister.  The second is from a friend.

Mary's sister, Connie Thomas shared on FB - I have not posted much on Facebook lately but have decided that this post is one I wanted to share with family and friends.  It is with great sadness I must tell you my sister Mary Matarazzo passed away on February 16.  Since the end of December she had suffered a stroke, contracted Covid, had a heart attack and just wasn't able to recover.  I am so thankful for the family and friends who walked the last several weeks with us.  I am so thankful for all your prayers, love and support. I also want to express my deepest thanks to Hendricks Regional Health and Life's Journey Hospice for their incredible care for Mary.  There will be no funeral service at this time.  A memorial service will be planned at a later date.  Love you all!!!

Mary's friend, Mark Eutsler posted on FB -  Mourning the passing of Mary Matarazzo.  She was secretary to Fr. Glenn O’Connor, Pastor of Saint Susanna RCC. Fr. Glenn, who probably never slept, was also an Indy 500 Pit Crew Member for 43 years as well as Chaplain at Indianapolis International Airport and Indy Car Ministry before his passing in 2019. Mary was equally known throughout the racing community. Together they were, as Fr. Glenn’s business card used to say, “Working to beat hell.”

My favorite memory of her is when I officiated the wedding of good friends and fellow race fans. . When I said, “Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace,” I looked at Mary in the audience and asked, “Mary, are you good with this?” Her jaw dropped, her face turned red, and the rest of the audience roared with laughter.

I haven’t seen Mary in many years but the Mary I remember from school was funny, kind, caring and always brought a smile to my face. Even now when I heard of her passing just the thought of her brought a smile. She always had a feeling of joy around her. I’m sorry she struggled so at the end and I know her family and friends loved her and are missing her. I am praying for God’s comfort for you all and His peace for Mary. I will always be thankful for her.

Mary was a sweet and jovial soul from what I remember. Her sister paid quite a tribute to her and must be in lots of pain at Mary's passing. I'm praying for her family and friends as she joins the heavenly throng. RIP

Mary Mary, quite contrary?  No way.     You were such a joy to be around.  I remember your playful spirit like it was yesterday.  What a gift.   My sincerest condolences to your friends and family.

I had the honor and pleasure to work with Mary  back in our younger days  in the PHS Library... for our last couple of years in high school... I really learned the Dewey decimal system from her.... in 1988 for our 20th I saw Mary, she was there checking in folks on that hot August evening....

she was smiling... greeted us all with a big smile... having a great time.. she was giving out our old senior pics.. funny I still remember that... she looked at me and asked for my name.. I told her... she said Wow.. you’ve really changed over the years... I didn’t get to another reunion until our 50th...RIP ole Classmate..

I will miss Mary, while our contacts were infrequent She always had a smile and a laugh that touched your spirit.During a crisis of faith a few years ago, I sought her advice and her counsel was right on the mark. Rest in Peace my Mary. Prayers and Good Thoughts for comfort and support for your family and friends.

To Mary's family I'm so sorry for your loss. It always saddens me to lose another classmate. Mary was a smiling fun person and she will be missed. I really enjoyed reading what others shared about her.
